Board Nomination for 2023 - 2025 now OPEN!

Do you know somebody who has made outstanding contributions to the SoCal SETAC scientific community? If so, please consider nominating your friends, colleagues, or even yourself for one of our 5 open SoCal SETAC Board of Director positions in the following sectors:

1 STUDENT 1 PUBLIC/GOVERNMENT 1 ACADEMIC 1 PRIVATE 1 NON-GOVERNMENT ORGANIZATION (NGO)


Benefits:

Serving on the Board for the SoCal SETAC Chapter is a great way:

  • To meet new colleagues and get to know current colleagues better

  • To learn more about what’s going on in your local scientific community

  • Be an active part of organizing dinner/annual meetings around relevant/interesting topics

  • To get involved in student mentorship and awarding student grants

  • To articulate more about yourself and your work in the “Meet the Board” section of our quarterly SoCal SETAC Newsletter

  • To represent the SoCal SETAC Chapter at SETAC North America by attending chapter meetings and functions

  • To get involved in the future direction and governance of your SoCal SETAC chapter

  • For professors to diversely apply academic research in multiple aspects of environmental science and provide a bridge for their students to the SoCal scientific community

  • For students to learn about a variety of applications in environmental science, present their work at our Annual Meeting, network with prospective employers, gain grant proposal writing experience, and potentially be awarded a variety of SoCal SETAC Student Grants

Requirements: The continued success of our Chapter depends highly on the active participation of all Officers and Board Members. SoCal SETAC Board of Directors volunteer a term of two years beginning summer, 2023 through summer, 2025. Board responsibilities include:

  • Participation in monthly conference calls

  • Occasionally author Newsletter articles

  • Provide planning assistance and critical participation during our Annual Meeting / Dinner Meetings

  • Attendance at periodic outreach events (e.g. Earth Day and local Science Fairs)

Please consider this expected level of participation when submitting the names of candidates for open board positions.


Note: Only current SoCal SETAC Chapter members may vote during our elections. To renew your membership prior to the elections, visit our website www.socal-setac.org/membership. Nominees must provide a brief bio to be used during the election. Only current student members are eligible to vote for the student Board position. Please make sure the nominee accepts your nomination and position responsibilities before submitting their name. How to Nominate: Email the attached nomination form to barbara.orelo@enthalpy.com by Friday, June 30th.
